Let's rewind for a second to where it all began, when MobilePay pops up in 2013 as and moments later is installed on every babysitter's, banker's, and barista's phone. MobilePay doesn't just change payments in Denmark, it changes the way we relate to each other.
In 2022, MobilePay joins forces with , and suddenly, money becomes very, very easy across the Nordics. Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Greenland become one big, shared swipe-land. It does however create some confusion that it happens under the name MobilePay in Finland, Greenland and Denmark, and Vipps in the others.
The goal is still to build payment solutions for the Nordics. And with from some of the World's biggest tech companies, it’s increasingly important to stand strong together. That's why we're now going all in and creating and to the global tech-giants.
Vipps is a nod to , the Norwegian-Danish word that means quick. The new can mean "Hi sweetie. Here’s a little something for treats."
We know it will take a little time to get used to. That's why it's not happening until January 12th. And don’t worry, the app is the same.
